Sable Island Tour

We had an amazing Sable Island experience with Picture Perfect Tours! From the very first contact, Geordie showed his commitment to offering the very best service. Communications were efficient. His responses prompt and pertinent. His series of numbered emails in the days prior to our Sable adventure were informative and helpful in ensuring we were prepared and eliminated any surprises. The day of our adventure was amazing. Door to door service was awesome. Picked up and dropped off at our downtown hotel. Geordie is very personable and put us at ease right away. The helicopter flight, our first, was amazing! Again, we were well informed and prepared. The Parks Canada informative video was very helpful. The onsite orientation with park staff was short and to the point which was great since we were all excited to hit the trails. Geordie is very knowledgeable and surveyed the island as the helicopter flew in for landing. This allowed him to identify areas where chances were high to observe the horses and seals. Boy, did he nail it!!! at the end of our day, I told him “We got the full meal deal!” with our outing! Understanding the costs are at the higher end for this experience, it is more than worth it when you consider the benefits one gets from a day very few get to experience. If you read to this point, you’ve been thinking about going to Sable Island for a while and wondering if you should go for it….Let me be clear…. GO FOR IT!!!!

The best guided tour I've been on! I felt totally prepared with all the neccessary information given to plan this trip to Nova Scotia and Sable Island. Any and all questions were answered promptly and throughly. Geordie Mott, owner and operator, receives a 5 gold star review. Very knowledgeable about the horses, the history behind, and their future as well. Geordie knew just where they may be grazing on this 27 mile island during the morning, mid-day, and late afternoon. We saw many absolutely magnificent families of stallions, mares, and foals! Geordie is knowledgeable about the island's history as well and seeing the Grey Seal population was amazing. Could not have been happier with this expierence!

Our extended family had a total of ten people and spent the day traveling from Halifax to Peggy's Cove, Chester, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg. Gordie was knowledgable, flexible, and patient with our three-generation group. He is able to create personalized itineraries for small or large groups and make them special for everyone. Highly recommend.

I took a trip to Sable Island in July 2026. It was a trip of a lifetime. Geordie, owner and guide, was the driving force behind the success of this trip. He was friendly, knowledgeable, informative, accommodating and went out of his way to ensure everyone got the most out of the trip. From the time you contact Picture Perfect Tours, he kept you informed about the trip and even sent extra information so you will have a good understanding about the place you are about to visit. Everything went smoothly from the time you lifted off from the heliport to when you land back at the end of the day. This tour made a memory you can't get anywhere else. I would highly recommend this tour company and, if possible, I would go back again.

The trip to Sable Island was a dream come true. It was a day trip via Vision Air. There was a smell group of seven participants. The experience was beyond anything I could ever have imagined. The sky was blue, water Caribbean blue, seals, horses, terns and I can still smell the aroma of the vegetation. A perfect day, a perfect trip! Thank you Picture Perfect Tours!

My wife and I decided it was time to visit Sable island and are so glad we did! Geordie, with his family history on the island, made the trip feel extra special! In the dramatic setting of the dunes and the ocean, the wildness of the horses and the cuteness of the seals, (who don’t get enough credit in my opinion) made for a spectacular day! While it is not an inexpensive adventure, it is absolutely worth every penny! 5+ stars for Geordie and Picture Perfect Tours!

Had an awesome trip to Sable Island. The helicopter flight was great, the hike was fun, the sights were amazing, and everyone we met was very nice. It was a really wonderful day from start to finish. 10/10 would recommend.

My son and I truly had an amazing experience on our trip to Sable Island on July 9th, 2026 with Picture Perfect Tours. I have always had an interest in Sable Island and its horses with the understanding that this was a protected area and not available to visit. I was fortunately very wrong and upon my son doin a little investigating, he discovered different opportunities on how to visit the Island. We choose Picture Perfect Tours and feel it was the best decision we could have made. Upon the first meeting with our tour Guide Geordie, I knew we were in great hands. With his remarkable knowledge, unique attachment to the Island, his friendly manner and kindness I knew we were going to have a unique and wonderful experience. From amazing skilled helicopter pilots that safely flew us to the Island and back, the extremely friendly and helpful Parks Canada employees, to the our wonderful tour guide Geordie, that not only lead us to many unique areas of the Island, directed us to see many horses at their watering area, seals swimming and floating in the ocean, he was always maintaining an eye on our safety and the safety of the ecosystem of the Island. I feel there could be no other decision on who to tour with. My son and I are considering another trip to The Island during the winter season and if we do decide to go Picture Perfect tours will be the only choice for us. What a fabulous experience that will salways tay with me! Geordie, our group leader, is a great communicator and was able to convey his passionate about Sable Island, the ever changing beauty and remoteness along with the rare family history he has with the island (GREAT stories and family album BTW). Picture Perfect Tours provides excellent communication pre/post trip and goes the extra mile through his intuitive marketing practises. Being part of a 'small group' makes for a very intimate adventure with like-minded people. This was a trip like no other - what a very special day!

Sable Island guided by Picture Perfect Tours was an extraordinary experience. The small group, reasonable pace, and knowledge of our guide( Geordie) made for a wondrous hike. The day moved seamlessly from pick-up at the hotel to the helicopter ride to the hike of a lifetime (scenery, horses. knowledgeable staff), to all the little things that made the day special. Highly recommended!

This is an experience like no other. Sable Island is a world unto itself, and the opportunity to see herds of horses and seals living their wild lives on endless white sand beaches will fill you with awe.

Geordie was terrific with designing a trip specifically for me as a solo traveler. He carefully included points of interest (Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg, and a wonderful tour around Cape Breton). Geordie also showed immense patience in aiding me with using my iPhone to take photos at the most advantageous spots! The accommodations were great, evening restaurant choices terrific, and he seamlessly adjusted our programme to suit modified early season opening hours, etc. He also was incredibly knowledgeable on the areas we visited and even gave me wonderful guidance on my upcoming trip to Sable Island. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and it did not disappoint! The absolute awe - and tears-started the second I saw the beautiful strip of sand ! I was afraid I wouldn't see horses and I could literally see them before we landed. They were majestic in their winter coats. Though I had less interest in the seal, they were so plentiful we saw them lounging, socializing, fighting and going in and out of the ocean. We even saw one that had quite obviously just been born. The guide was an amazing historian. Just overall bliss. I'm still floating.

What an incredible experience the Sable Island winter trip is! Geordie’s pre-trip communication was incredible - and his devotion to sharing his knowledge about Sable enriches the experience. He clearly has a wonderful collaborative relationship with the helicopter team and the Parks Canada staff. These relationships mattered throughout the day and created a seamless experience. My pickup was on time - to the minute. I had everything that I needed thanks to Geordie’s pre-trip information. He made the experience special by sharing his own knowledge/history of Sable, and he made each of the guests feel very comfortable and attended to. I am not the best photographer and still managed to capture some very special photos on my iPhone. I am so looking forward to seeing the professional photos that Geordie took of our day - how he balanced capturing everything while never detracting from his excellent guiding was also very impressive. Sable Island is a treasure, the winter experience was beyond anything that I could have imagined, and Geordie curated all of it. Top notch experience from start to finish! Highly recommend for an amazing Canadian adventure!

Very good organisation... right from the pick-up in downtown Halifax Geordie was a very knowledgeable and easy going guide... The place itself reminded me of the Galapagos! Defintly book with PPT!

Going to Sable Island has been on my bucket list for years and this trip did not disappoint. Geordie was an amazing guide with vast knowledge of the island ranging for its history, wildlife, plant life and people involved in monitoring Sable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in going to Sable Island. I would do it again it a heartbeat!

So wonderful experience of taking a walk on the low tide bay. Quality Tidal Bay wine with fresh seafood dishes at the patio of Le Caveau restaurant was truly enjoyable. Geordie is both professional and friendly! The botanical gardens at Acadia University are highly recommended for those who love gardening.

I booked a tour out to Sable Island National Park Reserve with Geordie. This is my second trip with him. He is an excellent tour guide and has a family history with the island and is very knowledgeable with the island. Would highly recommend going with Picture Perfect Tours and Geordie!!! He makes sure to find the horses and get you in position for good photographs of them. All photos are taken with a zoom lens and at a distance of 20 meters away. There was also a "swag bag" given to each of us after the tour with a t-shirt/patches/ island map/and a group picture of today's tour. Great touch! Vision Air who provides the helicopter service to the island is wonderful as well! Thanks to Dave and Michelle!!

It was a fantastic trip starting right from the helicopter flight to Sable Island, walking across dunes and the beach to see horses and seals and the beauty of the island's scenery until we left. Geordie was well-organized and very knowledgeable about the island's history and current situation. I also enjoyed meeting a researcher on the island and learning about her research projects. I'd highly recommend this trip to others.

A shout out to Geordie Mott for an incredible two days in Nova Scotia! His thoughtfulness, his enthusiasm, his historical knowledge of the area were top notch…important for all travelers, but especially great for six of us over 70. My newly acquired knowledge of the tidal bore, the devastating Halifax explosion of 1917, and the area of Peggy’s Cove with the intricate granite sculpture…simply amazing and very impressive! Could go on and on…Geordie was so accommodating and so personable. I highly recommend you book a tour with him!

This was easily the best trip of my life. The organization and carefulness that was put into the trip planning made me feel really secure and Geordie was helpful, fun, extremely knowledgeable and an amazing photographer (to complement the pictures I took myself). the actual experience is beyond compare from the moment you see the island from the helicopter to the horses, beaches, seals and the beautiful wild grassy beach dunes. But I would highly highly recommend Picture Perfect Tours as I feel like the heart and care and friendliness and the attention to detail were beyond compare. Geordie is an absolute fountain of knowledge and his enthusiasm is contagious (even though we were already maximally enthusiastic!) I also learned a lot about plastic waste and other conservation efforts and feel like in many ways the experience changed my outlook. A bucket list experience catered by the very very best!

A helicopter transported a group of 8 people to Sable Island and we had about 6 hours to explore the dunes, view the landscape, watch different bands of horses, walk by the seals and observe the terns and ipswich sparrows. It was a bonus to meet with Zoe and hear about her work for the Sable Island Research institute along with collaboration globally.

My Mom's life-long dream was to visit Sable Island. To celebrate her milestone birthday, we booked a tour for our family to explore Sable Island with Geordie from Picture Perfect Tours. It was a dream come true for all of us! We had an absolutely perfect day and we will all cherish the memories forever. I'm so grateful to Geordie for being such an outstanding guide, for his excellent communications, and for sharing his incredible photos. Our day really was "picture perfect!"

Sable Island is a magical strip of land waaayyyy off the Nova Scotia coast on the edge of the continental shelf. My daughter and I had a spectacular day there on Canada Day (July 1) with Geordie Mott of Picture Perfect Tours. The weather, which can be very unpredictable there, blessed us with a perfect sunny day to helicopter out to the island (smoothest heli ride ever!) and we enjoyed a full day hiking through the dunes and grasses and observing the wild horses and thousands of seals who make the island their home. Not to mention the nesting terns and other birds and flowers which are found there. Geordie knows the island intimately and he made our day very special, with the best spots to observe the horses and chances to find historical debris reclaimed by the sand. He even prepared a small celebration of a milestone birthday for one of our group. And, being a professional photographer, he supplemented our many favourite shots with a number of spectacular ones of his own. Such great memories! While I feel very lucky to have been one of the very limited number of people Parks Canada authorizes to visit Sable Island each year, I have to share that it is a remarkable experience I would recommend to all. A step out of time and into nature at its purest.
