2018 Dates Coming Soon!!
Feel the thrill of exploring one of the most secluded places in Canada - Sable Island! Expansive sand dunes, wild horses, and the world’s largest grey seal colony await on this once in a lifetime experience!
Get your camera ready for this amazing and exclusive adventure to Sable Island National Park Reserve, located 300km offshore in the Atlantic Ocean. Landing on the island, we’ll be greeted by a Parks Canada interpreter, who’ll introduce us to the island to find wild horses, the world's largest colony of grey seals, unique bird species, and archeological treasures from the 500 years of habitation, that are revealed by the shifting dunes.
THIS WAS AN AMAZING ADVENTURE - "Sable island is a difficult place to get to on a good day! Geordie was a top-notch host and I felt he prepared me well for what to expect and I was wanting for nothing on the journey. We even had an award-winning lunch out on the island!" - Briannacorrscott (Oct '17)
Throughout the day, your guide, Geordie Mott, a professional photographer, and owner of Picture Perfect Tours will provide photography instruction and insights to help you best capture this incredible location. Geordie also has a family connection to the island:
"The remote majesty of Sable has always held a unique place in our family history! My great-great-grandfather Joseph Blakeney was the island superintendent during WWI. His daughter Muriel taught school on the island and in 1914 she met my great grandfather William Mott who was a lifesaver stationed on Sable Island. I still have Muriel's old photo album from their time on the island!" – Geordie Mott
Advance booking required. A minimum (and maximum) of four guests required to offer this tour. Sometimes the most memorable experiences in life are also the most difficult - and this tour is no different. Historically, there has been a 50% success rate in landing flights on Sable Island. Weather conditions and logistical priorities may prevent our charter flight from taking off. If the tour is canceled, a 100% refund will be issued. We will have a 2-day travel window and guests must be available in Halifax during our window.
Participants must be in great physical shape, as the experience includes a full day (8 hours) of hiking in sand. Participants must not have any prior medical conditions that could affect their involvement (ie. heart conditions, breathing difficulties, mobility issues, pregnancy, etc.). If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know. If the weather cooperates for our flight, we still must prepare for unpredictable weather on the remote island, and everyone must dress appropriately. Full details and trip planning suggestions will be provided at the time of booking.
